Previous Breeding Rams
Nordur (Linger 263E)
Nordur is in retirement now. He is a well-muscled ram sired by AI Myrkvi son, Rune (see our Reference Sire and Dam page). His excellent frame, long back and his incredible fleece with fast-growing/long tog and density of thel, is an added bonus and he has an easy going, easy-to-handle nature. His offspring are well-conformed and among the fastest-growing in the flock.
Among his AI progenitors: Myrkvi, Depill, Sokki, Kaekur, Ymir, Mango, Geisli, Grani, Kveikur, Logi, Grimur, Rektor, Udi for a 54% AI lineage.
Black/grey spotted.
Eirik (Kind Horn 418Z)
We so appreciated this soft-natured, intelligent black ram. He is everything Linger Fold became known for. A gentle giant and proven sire of sturdy, fast-growing, gorgeously fleeced offspring and, most importantly, his progeny have had good minds and bright personalities. When his lambs were too close genetically to keep on for our own flock, they were in high demand on other farms around the country. Eirik continued to be treasured for his gentle ability to mentor and “raise” young rams to be exceptional citizens themselves. Eirik served our farm well for almost 10 years.
AI Grani, True North and Frelsi lineage for 27% AI.
Black solid, carries spotting. Very black/black!
Tog (TCE 323G)
Tog was a strong producer for us. With excellent loin muscling and very nicely “put together” conformation, he has produced good legs and long, level topline. He also produced his exquisite fleece! Quick growing and quite dense. He is made an indelible “mark” here at Linger Fold. In personality, his alert and even nature made him a perfect member of a large ram band, mentoring and babysitting the youngsters.
Tog has moved on north to Peaceful Valley Icelandics in Wyoming.
83% AI lineage includes Blettur, Gramann, Grabotni, Throttur, Raftur, Laekur and others.
Solid black mouflon, grizzled.
Quixote (Linger 260E)
This Dök son was lo-ong in loin and had the best and greatest horn set ever. Grandson of two Kind Horn rams, Eirik and Escher (Reference Sires). Well-muscled and an unusually fine ram fleece. Couldn’t find a kinder temperament in a ram and this carried through in his offspring.
Quixote’s AI 51% lineage included Kveikur, Logi, Eldur, Prins, Udi, Grimur, Kari, Grani, Rektor.
Escher (Kind Horn 410Z)
Escher was a strong and steady presence on our farm, producing several generations of sound, well-muscled and beautifully fleeced offspring. A number of his progeny became extraordinary flock sires in their own right for other Icelandic farms. He was a bit of a handful as a youngster (very much owing to our inexperience with rams back then) but he turned around completely with training to be a friendly and calm ram that we trusted fully and loved having around.
AI Kveikur son. Our amazing Escher was conceived with AI technique on Kind Horn Farm from Iceland's outstanding sire, Kveikur. 70% AI.
The Icelanders go to serious efforts in tracking genetic traits in order to offer carefully chosen breeding sires via artificial insemination. Their goals emphasize meat qualities/scores and also the prolificacy and milkiness of dams. Kveikur was an especially well-proven Southram sire with a number of his offspring also chosen to represent Iceland through AI.
Rune (Kind Horn 704C) - AI Myrkvi son
Entrusted to us by Kind Horn Farm, Rune was an excellent sire for us of meaty, well-conformed and nicely fleeced lambs for Linger Fold. His sire, Myrkvi, was offered by Southram in Iceland and Rune's dam was a lovely moorit/grey ewe bred by The Creek's Edge. We lost Rune after his first breeding season.
AI 72%. Myrkvi, Depill, Sokki, Ymir and others.
Dök (Linger 205B)
Calm, personable ram was well-muscled and beautifully fleeced. We put him to work as a flock sire for us for a season before selling this stocky boy by Escher to Stubborn Elk Farm in UT, where he served not only as flock sire but as an ambassador for the breed in public and also film events. His magnificent dam, Marly, was of AI Kari lineage (known for exceptionally fleeced offspring!), as well as Udiboy and Grimur. Dök has certainly carried this valued legacy forward.

Frodi (Linger 254E)
Frodi’s fine, lustrous wool echoed that of his grey mouflon dam, Nayeli. She was known for her incredible and lengthy wool (and also her lively intelligence). His stout and gentle sire, Dök, had everything desirable in the breed in one package. We retained Frodi for a very successful breeding season, retaining multiple offspring of size and exceptional fleece.
Black grey mouflon.
Glacier (TCE 026C) - AI Skrauti son
Our monumental Glacier was a legend while he was with us at Linger Fold. Bred by The Creek’s Edge, his AI sire, Skrauti, was known in Iceland for siring milky daughters. We could not have predicted the excellent fleeces he would produce on his lambs and excellent rooing ability, but we knew he would give size and muscle (both tall and stout) and also highly sought after dairy qualities in the ewes of this lineage. He has produced the most fabulous udders in his daughters!
Such a soft personality for a ram, a true gentleman, Glacier was just an exceptional sire. He has begun a career for Pleasant Valley Ranch in WY, impressing yet another shepherd. Hands down, simply an amazing ram.
White, carrying moorit.
Previous Breeding Ewes
Bobbin (Kind Horn 324Y)
A granddaughter of both Grani and Laekur, Bobbin was such a well-built, muscular ewe. She has a cheerful and friendly nature and possesses all the qualities so desired in the Icelandic breed. Bobbin is an excellent mother, she always had easy lambings and raised good-sized, fast-growing, well-muscled lambs with expertise. She was the dam of our Skein. An outstanding ewe, simply loved her dearly and for every reason in the book.
AI 75% from Grani, Stapi, Munkur, Laekur, Garpur and others.
Homozygous white.
Nayeli (Linger 108A)
One of the first lambs born at Linger Fold our first lambing season, Nayeli was treasured as a highly intelligent and personable ewe. She had an exquisite, fine fleece and a wonderful “dairy-worthy” udder. She produced sons who have become flock sires for other Icelandic shepherds. 56% AI.
Black grey mouflon.
Weslea (Kind Horn 101W)
A prized foundation ewe, Weslea travelled cross country from Kind Horn Farm in VT to take her place on our homestead. Full-bodied with a long top-line, she was a big girl with creamy white fleece that was luxurious when grown long. We treasured her as a perfectly attentive mother, raising vigorous lambs with ease. AI lineage included Bambi, Rector and Noi (44% AI). She came from the prolific Thokka line, with even quadruplets in her background. Weslea raised triplets and twins expertly and contributed well-appreciated breedstock to other shepherds, including Linger Handiman (above) at Cold Pocket Farm in ID.
We retained a promising young daughter to carry her line forward, our beautiful Bára.
75% AI from Bambi, Rektor.
White.
Marly (Kind Horn 204X)
Marly's rich, caramel-colored fleece and her wild, independent hardiness were awe-inspiring. 42% AI from Udiboy, Grimur, Kari (with his magnificent fleece!). With Frelsi dam lineage, Marly gave us some marvelous offspring and we keep her “mark” strongly within our flock. Her lambs grace flocks in MT and UT as herd sires.
Badgerface, carrying grey.
